In a powerful interview on FA Mambbo Africa, Professor PLO Lumumba urges East African nations to embrace unity, fix foreign policy, and resist neocolonial pressure from the West.

In the latest episode of FA Mambbo Africa, legal scholar and renowned Pan-Africanist Prof. PLO Lumumba delivers a scathing critique of Africa’s foreign dependency and fractured leadership. Joined by host Sarah Mwangi, Lumumba dives deep into the geopolitical crossroads facing Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and the broader East African Community (EAC).

🛑 “Africa must say no — diplomatically, strategically, and unapologetically.”

Prof. Lumumba insists that Africa will never achieve sovereignty if it continues to beg and borrow under unfair terms. “We must fix our foreign policy. We must engage the West as partners, not subjects,” he states.

He calls out the United States and France for their double standards in diplomacy — praising obedient African leaders while vilifying those like Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso who choose to assert national control over natural resources.

🏛️ East African Integration Must Be Fast-Tracked

Lumumba warns of growing tensions within the EAC, from Tanzania’s border conflicts to Kenya’s diplomatic blunders. As chair of the EAC, Kenya has the moral obligation to lead integration forward, not backward.

“A united East Africa means shared courts, one supreme parliament, harmonized defense, and stronger negotiating power globally.”

He urges President William Ruto to summon an extraordinary EAC summit to address the growing mistrust and budgetary collapse at the Arusha-based secretariat.

⚖️ Fixing Kenya’s Foreign Policy and Global Image

Kenya’s recent missteps — from mishandling Somaliland diplomacy to contradictory statements on Saharawi–Morocco relations — have weakened its reputation. Lumumba criticizes the lack of consistency and strategic direction.

“We can’t speak both East and West at the same time. A funeral must be organized by the family — not outsiders.”

He also emphasizes that the Kenyan seal of state should remain with the Attorney General, not be moved around by political interests.

🔥 Respect for African Sovereignty is Non-Negotiable

As US-Africa Command (AFRICOM) General Michael Langley visited Nairobi, Lumumba questioned the logic of hosting foreign military while Kenya’s own defense budgets remain strained.

He calls out the IMF and World Bank for hypocritical recommendations that protect Western investors while ignoring African structural realities.

📣 Pan-Africanism is Rising – With or Without the West

Referencing Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, Lumumba praises young African leaders who are defying foreign dictates and asserting sovereignty. He urges African governments to learn from their courage.

“What is happening in the Sahel is unprecedented. It’s not a coup — it’s a call for dignity.”

📌 Final Word: Unite and Liberate Africa

PLO Lumumba’s rallying cry is simple yet urgent: “Integrate or perish.”

Without deep, structural unity, Africa will remain a chessboard for foreign powers. Whether it’s foreign aid, global trade, or military partnerships — Africa must define its terms.
